The film consists of five stories: "Love and Hate on the Square", "Calm Down", "Concert on the Clouds", "Red as Sunsets" and "Always Going Forward". It centers around the day-to-day lives of ordinary Chinese and their bitter-sweet journeys in pursuit of a better life.
